What is the Goal?

Ideology and Positions

The Maegnolyun is a small group of Contributors and Supporters of the Magnolian Movement. The Magnolian movement seeks to reform, preserve, and advance the unique culture and identity of the American South East by protecting those things which are good, fixing the things which are broken, and removing the bad.

The Magnolian movement is therefore, a politically moderate group whose primary Ideology is a form of Regionalism.

The current goal of the Maegnolyun is promotion and Prolifereation of the Magnolian Flag as unifying symbol of Dixieland and all of her people regardless of Race, Creed, or Political Afilliation.

We want to promote a better Dixie, with emphasis on Southron Hospitality, and  Southron Values.

We reject the Lost Cause Mythos, and with it the Veneration of the Confederate States of America and its leadership. However, we do not condemn the common soldiery of the Confederate Army with the same brush as the Aristocracy that lead them to war.

The Maegnolyun seeks reconciliation between The White South and the Black South; and to move forward as one nation united by our many commonalities.

The Magnolian Flag (The Maegnolyun)

The Magnolian Flag in its 2:3 configuration.

The Maegnolyun, was designed by Georgia-Native Brandon “Luke” McReady who is also the current de facto leader of the Maegnolyun group.

The Maegnol (the Magnolia emblem that the flag was designed around) was designed under commission by artist Tyrone “SycrosD4” Barnes, who is a personal friend of McReady.

The Flag’s purpose is to represent the common Culture and Identity of the Southlands. Every detail of its design is taken from somewhere and has symbolic meaning, and it was ultimately designed to be a flag that simultaeneously espoused Pride and Humility with a warmth of Hospitality.

"Magnolian"?

Traditionally, the people of Dixie were referred to a “Southron”, a term which was inherited from an old Scottish term for the English. However, at some point after the War-Between-The-States, Southron fell out of use. It was replaced by Southern and Southerner.

This is (kind of) a problem. Within the United States, the term does its job, and everyone knows what we’re talking about. But, once we step outside the states we lose our name. Instead we just have to use the generic “American” or the clunky “American Southerner”/ “Southern-American”.

It’s for this reason that the Maegnolyun promotes the use of “Magnolian” as the term to replace “Southern”. However, for now we still use Southern as well in official uses for the sake of being understood. But we hope the new term will catch on!

Where is the Maegnolyun?
Is this a Business?

If you buy merchandise from the Maegnolyun any profits go into funding the group. Currently everything is out of pocket.

There is currently no brick and mortar headquarters. The group is spread out across the South, but the official seat of the organization is Jesup, Georgia.

No. The Maegnolyun itself is currently unincorporated (though we are exploring the idea) and is not a for profit venture.

Luke McReady currently holds the rights to the Flag but is holding it only for protective purposes.

The Flag and the Maegnol will be made Public domain eventually.
